European of Biomechanics conference
The 18th Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB2012) will be held at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Technical University of Lisbon.
1-4 July 2012
Website click here
The main objective of the congress is to bring together researchers and practitioners in biomechanics to stimulate and promote research on all core topics of biomechanics, including emerging research areas. The event will open on Sunday 1st July with a pre-course of interest to graduate students, post-docs, and young researchers. The main programme from Monday 2nd to Wednesday 4th July will feature different tracks of presentations from the delegation. Plenary sessions are planned to address current challenges in biomechanics research, and to provide valuable insight into the ever-increasing importance of collaborative research, interdisciplinary programmes, EU funding opportunities and biomechanical education programmes.
Based on the previous Congresses, we believe that ESB2012 will have a strong impact on the development of biomechanics research work, identifying emerging areas of research and promoting the collaboration between its participants.
The congress will be held in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Lisbon is a beautiful, historic city facing the Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon has been a point of cultural interchange and encounter for many centuries for visitors and people coming from all over the world. It is a safe and pleasant city where delegates and their companions will feel at ease and will be very well received.
TRA is not just a conference but an arena which aims at bringing together European stakeholders from all areas of transport and transport-related activities (road, rail and waterborne). A renewed TRA, covering all transport modes but also urban transport planning and mobility as well as co-modality, is precisely what the European Commission was calling for.
This will happen in Athens in 2012.

CASPER and EPOCh Final Workshop
March 13-15, 2012
The CASPER and EPOCh projects on child safety are organising a final workshop to present their research findings on
child safety and to discuss future activities. This three day workshop will be held on 13, 14 and 15 November in Berlin, Germany.
Although significant achievements have been made in reducing fatalities and injuries in traffic accidents over the last decade,
continued efforts are needed to bring the numbers down further. Motivated by this, the CASPER and EPOCh projects will
address some aspects of child safety in vehicles.
Participation in this event is free of charge. Registrations can be made online at click here
SAE 2012 Government / Industry Meeting
Washington DC, USA
Each year, the SAE Government/Industry Meeting organizes an ideal opportunity to connect with the leading technical authorities from government, industry, and academia to discuss the regulation, legislation, and technical issues impacting the future, including energy conservation, the environment, and safety.
The 2012 Government/Industry Meeting provides a professional, neutral forum where participants showcase achievements, share technological solutions, and discuss recent regulations and pending legislation. The entire event is designed to provide networking opportunities for meaningful interaction between the people driving advanced automotive technology and those regulating or legislating key safety, environmental, and energy issues.
55th Stapp Conference 2011
7-9 November 2011
Detroit, Mi, USA
The purpose of this grant programme is to encourage attendance and participation by young
professionals from low and middle income countries who are beginning their career path or are
advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D) students and who are engaged in biomechanical research. Individuals
who meet the criteria, as decided by the IRCOBI Council, will receive a grant of 500 Euros and
complimentary registration for the full conference (all benefits). Past grantees are not eligible.
14-16 September, 2011
22nd ESV conference
Washington DC, USA
The technical exhibition is the second essential part of the Aachen Colloquium. 86 exhibitors on an exhibition area of more than 1800 m2 presented their products and services.
Aachen Body Engineering Days 2010
September 21-22, 2010
Strategic questions will be discussed in plenary lectures, e. g. which challenges result for the world car from the perspective of a leading car manufacturer, what does a complex product line require from vehicle structures and what material mix can we expect in future car bodies.
The current state of body engineering is demonstrated by the presentation of the latest car bodies. An outlook on the future will be given by new architectures for full electric vehicles.
Representatives of vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and research institutes report about developments in material lightweight design based on new alloys and innovative approaches with the use of fibre-reinforced plastics in the body structure. Further topics are lightweight potentials in glazing, innovative solutions for seat structures and unconventional door concepts.
We are looking forward to informative contributions and motivated discussions, giving new impulses and we would be happy to welcome you at the Aachen Body Engineering Days 2010.
ESAR's goal is to bring together researchers from all parts of the world, who will report on their methods and recommendations to improve traffic safety based on "In-Depth-Investigations" of real world accidents. These In-depth-investigations of accidents require thorough documentation and an accident data analysis on multi-disciplinary levels which must be carried out immediately after it occurs. ESAR presents scientists the opportunity to present their studies.

ISN & COVER Workshop on Biomechanical Experiments with Human Subjects
September 14, 2010
information and agenda see: PDF
The Workshop on Biomechanics experiments with human subjects will be held in Hannover, Germany, September 14, 2010. This Workshop has been scheduled on the day before the IRCOBI Conference on behalf of the Integrated Safety Network (ISN) and the COVER Coordination and Support Action.
The purpose of the Workshop is to provide a forum for exchange and discussion as well as the presentation of current experimental biomechanics research using human volunteers or Post Mortem Human Subjects in the field of passive safety or impact biomechanics.
A half day session of the workshop will be dedicated to present and discuss results of two EU FP7 projects THORAX and THOMO. Both are dealing with thoracic injuries. Results on accident investigations, PMHS testing and Human Body modelling collected during the first two years of these projects will be presented by participants.
6th World Congress on Biomechanics
August 1-6, 2010
The 6th World Congress of Biomechanics will be hosted by Biomedical Engineering Society of Singapore (BES) together with the Global Enterprise for Micromechanics and Molecular Medicine (GEM4) and the National University of Singapore (NUS).

In the past years, this conference has been a worldwide platform for CRS research and development, for child accident research, biomechanics, as well as for consumer information and safety testing. The yearly the participation of about 150 interdisciplinary experts from 25 countries made this conference one of the most important international meetings.
Again in 2009 all important key subjects of child safety will be addressed. The advances of developing a new UN ECE regulation for CRS will be discussed as well as the alignment of European Vehicle Safety Directives with ECE regulations. The activities in defining a side impact test procedure are covered; reports will analyse the process in child dummy development. Recent results from accident investigations and new research methods in biomechanical tolerance limits of children are another key subject of this conference. Experience in consumer information, international NCAP testing and misuse studies will be shared and a special session is dedicated to emerging markets and their requirements for protection of children in cars and for effective safety campaigns.
